RC Kharkiv Multinational | PSYCHOLOGICAL RESILIENCE
About our Project:
Prolonged emotional stress during the war can affect mental and physical health. This can be helped, there are simple and accessible ways for everyone to take care of themselves.
Therefore, RC Kharkiv Multinational supports the project „Psychological Resilience of Communities of Slobozhanshchyna“.
The goal of the project is to strengthen the psychological resilience of communities by disseminating stress management techniques. In October-November 2023, training and supervision support for facilitators of „Self-Help Plus“ groups, who will continue to conduct group classes, took place in December 2023 – March 2024.
Self-Help Plus (SH+) Course Reference
Self-Help Plus (SH+) has been developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a five-session, group-based stress management course. It is suitable for all settings where there are populations affected by adversity. It can be used to help reduce psychological distress in adults, regardless of whether they have a diagnosable mental health condition or not and has been shown to prevent the onset of mental disorders in adults. SH+ uses pre-recorded audio and an illustrated guide to teach stress management skills. This innovative format makes it possible for supervised non-specialists to complete a short training on SH+ and then deliver it to large groups of people (e.g. up to approximately 30 at a time). SH+ is one of a number of evidence-based scalable psychological interventions published by WHO and can be offered alongside other mental health interventions or community programming.
Participation in the project of the Rotary Club Kharkiv Multinational:
We donated bluetooth audio speakers for all trained facilitators.
Speakers are needed to demonstrate audio recordings during group classes.
Thanks to gifts from Rotary, classes on mastering stress management techniques began immediately after the completion of the training of facilitators.
How can you join the project?
Donate any amount to print individual „Important Skills in Times of Stress“ manuals, which will be presented to participants in the „Self-Help Plus“ sessions.
