About our Project: Shelter for Liceum:

Building Resilience – Novi Petrivtsi Lyceum Civil Defense Facility

In response to the challenging times of war, the Rotary Club Kyiv has embarked on a vital initiative to construct a civil defense facility for the Novi Petrivtsi Lyceum in the Petrivska Village Council. This project is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting communities in the Kyiv region, with a focus on fortifying against external threats and ensuring the safety and continuity of education.

Background:

Since the onset of war, Rotary Club Kyiv has been actively engaged in supporting communities in the Kyiv region. Among the key regions under our care are the Petrivska and Dymerska communities in the Vyshhorod district. These areas, with historical significance and notable contributions to culture and society, are facing ongoing challenges due to their strategic location and critical infrastructure.

Challenges Faced by Novi Petrivtsi Lyceum:

The Novi Petrivtsi Lyceum, accommodating 617 students, has become a focal point of concern. The continuous attacks on the territories of both Petrivska and Dymerska communities have placed the Lyceum at risk. The need for a civil defense facility is crucial to protect the students and ensure uninterrupted education.

Rotary Club Kyiv’s Response:

Since February 2022, Rotary Club Kyiv has been actively involved in aiding communities during wartime. From providing essential supplies and support to infrastructure development, our efforts have been comprehensive. However, the systematic attacks on the territories have necessitated a more robust response.

Project Scope:

The focus of this project is the construction of a civil defense facility for the Novi Petrivtsi Lyceum. Through collaboration with community leaders, activists, and the Lyceum’s administration, we have identified suitable premises, engaged specialists, and selected a qualified contractor. The facility aims to provide a secure environment for students, shielding them from potential threats during wartime.

Budget:

The estimated cost for the construction of the civil defense facility, based on the best offer from a qualified contractor, is EUR 26,205, USD 28,635, or UAH 1,040,967.

Impact and Future Outlook:

The successful implementation of this project will not only provide a tangible safety measure for the Novi Petrivtsi Lyceum but also enable students to transition from online to offline education. This, in turn, ensures the continuity of their secondary education in a secure environment.

Call for Collaboration:

Rotary Club Kyiv welcomes collaboration and support for this critical project. The overarching goal is to fortify the educational infrastructure, protect the students, and contribute to the resilience of the community. Detailed progress reports will be provided, guaranteeing transparency and accountability.

Together, let us build a future where education remains a beacon of hope even in the midst of adversity.
